Nostalgia for clarinet quintet, composed in early 2019, is one of my early compositions that I experiment with incorporating Thai music as it is into my music: the raw, entertained music that any layman may be able to touch and enjoy the music. The thematic materials and compositional form may be separated into two different blocks: the slow nostalgic atmosphere and the fast rhythmic dance-like character. These two blocks are presented in juxtaposition to give the impression of the reminiscence into one’s memory, hence the title of the piece “Nostalgia”.
