Concert March No.3 (Fantasie on Lanna Tunes)

This piece was composed for the Chiang Rai Community Youth Wind Ensemble for their 2025 annual concert, “Winds of Lanna.” The work develops and re-harmonizes traditional Lanna melodies into the style of a seated concert march.

The piece opens with a majestic fanfare, followed by a graceful yet powerful march-style theme. In the middle section, Thai cymbals and Thai Gong–inspired percussion colors are incorporated to enrich the Lanna musical atmosphere in combination with Western percussion instruments.

The composer employs both major and minor pentatonic scales, distilled from Lanna melodic material, as ingredients for creating secondary themes and for blending Eastern and Western musical sonorities. Toward the end, the music takes on a festive and joyful character before concluding with a stately fanfare.
