Program Note

Concert March No. 1 “Playground” depicts the evening life of children in the city. Evening is a time when children come out and play with their friends in their communities. Some ride their bikes, some run along the streets, and some play soccer by the roadside. For these children, the playground is not just a field, but any place they can imagine.

On special days, parades pass by the houses, creating fun and excitement. For children, every corner of the urban community becomes their playground.

Composed in standard march form, this piece portrays the joyful spirit of children at play. It opens with a playful melody before transitioning to a more flowing trio section. The melodies incorporate idiomatic Thai scale degrees, and the sounds of passing parades can be heard several times throughout the march.
